Letter from the Editors

By now you've most likely had a chance to look around T4T's new website. Last month, we noted some of the new features that were available. Since then, we have added a few new features that let you become an active part of our community.

Users are now able to post four different types of content:

First, you can submit a story to the website. A story is a news item that relates to technology of interest to nonprofits in Colorado. If your organization is hosting a technology-related event, this would be a great place to let everyone know. We'd like to be able to spread the word, whether it's a helpful speaker in town for the weekend or a recurring set of workshops.

Second, you can provide a resource link. A resource is any external site that provides information on technology resources for nonprofits, whether in the form of hardware, software, training, or support services. If you know of a way that non-profits can get any kind of technology help, please send it our way so that others can benefit.

Third, you can write an article. Feeling ambitious and have something to say? If your organization learned some lessons about the software you use the hard way, there may be other nonprofits who could learn from your experience. Or maybe you solved a tricky logistical problem in your computer lab. Share your hard-earned knowledge so that other non-profits don't have to start from scratch.

Finally, you can comment on anything that other people have posted. If someone puts up a resource link to a vendor whom you've worked with, share your experiences. If you've been at an event mentioned in a story, tell us who you think would benefit from attending.

So how can you get started? On your left menu bar, you should see a link titled “Create Content”. Clicking this link will give you a drop-down menu with these three options, as well as taking you to the page featuring them. Simply click on the appropriate link and fill in the fields provided. We've also added a little points system that will keep track of your contributions, which you can see in your profile.

Also on the left is a new link labeled "Invite Your Friends and Colleagues." Do you know somebody who can benefit from the services that T4T provides? Or perhaps you know someone who would write a great article? Let them know about our organization and get them involved! Just click on the link to send a message to those you would like to invite.

We would like to make this a place where nonprofits can share technology information and resources, an active community that will help everyone involved. Please consider contributing. And keep in touch. (See that "Contact Us" link at the top of the page?)

Thank you,
Jacob and Kelda
